Art and Praxis

Abstract

The thematic issue surveys an ancient area of European philosophy of art that has wide ranging implications today: the relations between art and praxis. The papers of the volume focus on four key aspects of the problematics. First, the ontology of the work of art is surveyed, then the epistemological praxis through which one recognizes a work of art as a work of art. The third segment considers the social practice that results in works of art; while the fourth maps (self)interpretations by artists and artistic practice.
